Marianne Couch
Marianne Couch, JD, of the COKALA group, is an advisor on U.S. federal and state tax information reporting compliance. She is a frequent lecturer at major tax conferences and the author of numerous published articles. She served for many years as Research Director of Balance Consulting, and chaired special training and advisory services provided to large organizations and academic and nonprofit institutions. She was previously the executive director of the National Association of Form 1099 Filers, Inc., and a member of the IRS Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC), where she served as Chair of the IRPAC Subcommittee on Small Business and Self-Employed (SBSE) tax issues. In this capacity, she testified annually before the IRS Commissioner on issues of concern to the information reporting community. Marianne has previously worked as a litigator for a large Michigan law firm, where she represented individuals and large clients in many types of civil actions, and formerly served as a Research Attorney for the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Randy Jones
Randy Jones retired from Wachovia in October, 2006 as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Trust Tax Services, a position he held for 10 years. Randy has over 32 years experience in trust and estate tax work, including managing tax departments at First National Bank of South Carolina, South Carolina National Bank, Bankers Trust of South Carolina, and NCNB (now Bank of America). In 1994, Randy joined First Union National Bank in Charlotte as Estate Tax Manager.
Since retiring, Randy has been working with Wachovia and other institutions to provide structured training programs in all areas of trust related taxation.
Randy was an instructor at Cannon Financial Institute for 20 years, teaching courses in fiduciary income tax, estate and gift tax, generation skipping, estate planning, postmortem planning, and related subjects. He has taught courses at the ABA National Trust School, and has been a speaker at numerous tax conferences and estate planning meetings.
Randy received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and the MBA and Master of Accountancy degrees from the University of South Carolina. He and his wife, Karen, reside in Concord, NC and have two sons, Matthew and Andrew.
Randy is a certified public accountant and a member of the North Carolina Association of CPAs.
Henry Lievre
Henry Lievre is President and Founder of the Independent Wealth Advisory Group.
Prior to forming his own advisory company, Henry served as a Vice President, providing tax and wealth advisory support to the Lehman Brothers Trust Company, N.A. His background includes over 35 years of experience in the practical application of highly sophisticated areas of tax law, as well as overseeing the preparation and filing of tens of thousands of fiduciary tax returns. Prior to Lehman Brothers, he served as team leader for the JP Morgan Chase U.S. Tax Planning Team of the Private Bank, where he was responsible for providing tax efficient solutions to wealth management issues. In his career, he has addressed the needs of hundreds of high net worth individuals, family offices, and charitable foundations.
Henry has participated extensively in outside activities, as Chairman of the Committee of Banking Institutions in Taxation, member of the American Bankers Association Trust & Estate Tax Committee, the New York Bankers Tax Committee, the Estate Planning Councils Nassau County & New York City and Chairman of the CLR/Omega User Group.
David R. Nave
David R. Nave is Senior Vice President and Tax Director of Pitcairn Financial Group. Mr. Nave’s responsibilities include formulating and executing tax planning strategies for all clients, interpreting tax regulations, directing tax return processing, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local and international tax legislation. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Nave has authored articles in the following tax publications: Taxes-The Tax Magazine, Taxation for Accountants, The Tax Executive, Taxation for Lawyers, The CPA Journal, The Women CPA, Small Business Taxation, Journal of Taxation, Tax Management-Corporate Tax and Business Planning Review, Estate Planning Review, Lawyers Weekly, Tax Notes, The Tax Advisor, Journal of Passthrough Entities, State Tax Notes, and Financial and Estate Planning. He has also been a featured speaker at tax conferences including Tennessee Estate Planning Council, CCH Financial and Estate Planning Review, ICI Tax and Accounting Conference, Fast-Tax User Conference, ABA 18th Annual Real Property and Estate Planning Symposia and CBIT 34th as well as 37th Annual Tax Day.
Mr. Nave earned an MBA in Finance at Widener University, a degree from the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova Law School, and a BS in Accounting at Philadelphia University.
He is a member of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council, the Tax Executives Institute, the Investment Company Institute Tax Committee, the Real Estate Tax Discussion Group, the Investment Company Institute Tax Advisory Group, and the Committee of Banking Institutions on Taxation (CBIT).
Lisa M. Whitcomb
Lisa M. Whitcomb is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Wealth Advisory Services for The Glenmede Trust Company, N.A. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, Lisa oversees tax, estate, and financial planning and estate administration for the company’s affluent individual investors.
Prior to joining Glenmede, she was an attorney with Dechert, Price & Rhoads (now Dechert LLP) in its Private Client practice group, specializing in individual estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals, corporate executives, and international clients.
Lisa received a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, attended the Columbia University School of Business and is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College where she earned an A.B. in Economics. She is a member of the Tax Section and has served on the Executive Committee of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association. She is also a faculty member of the Central Atlantic Trust School. She is the author of numerous articles published in professional journals and newspapers and is a frequent speaker before professional organizations on estate planning and tax-related topics.
